The Story

When Drama of the Ages first hit in 2005, it represented both continuity and rebirth for JACOBS DREAM. The band had already made waves worldwide with their self-titled debut (2001) and Theater of War (2003), albums that blended technical precision with heartfelt conviction. But Drama of the Ages brought something new. With the addition of vocalist Chaz Bond (BioGenesis), JACOBS DREAM's sound grew richer, darker, and more commanding. Bond's baritone depth and soaring highs reminded listeners of Eric Clayton (Saviour Machine), Matt Barlow (Iced Earth), and Geoff Tate in his early Queensrÿche days, yet his delivery was uniquely his own-controlled, powerful, and full of emotion. His presence elevated the music in ways that fans and critics alike recognized immediately.

The songs themselves show a band stepping fully into maturity. Where Theater of War had flashes of brilliance amid uneven pacing, Drama of the Ages flows with confidence from start to finish. Galloping riffs, dual-guitar harmonies, and intricate arrangements recall Iron Maiden and Fates Warning at their best, while the lyrical themes offer inspiration, conviction, and hope. This is progressive power metal that values both brains and heart-never sacrificing melody for complexity, or message for technical flair. The result is an album with no weak tracks, a rare achievement that secured it's place as one of JACOBS DREAM's defining statements. Two decades later, Drama of the Ages still resonates as strongly as ever. To celebrate it's 20th anniversary, Retroactive Records unleashes the first-ever deluxe vinyl edition, officially licensed from Metal Blade Records and fully remastered by Rob Colwell. Strictly limited to just 200 copies worldwide, this 2-LP set features one 12-inch green disc and one 12-inch blue disc, housed in a heavy-duty extra-wide jacket. Also included is an elite 12x12 full-color lyrics insert loaded with band photos and extras collectors crave. Fans will also discover meaningful new 2025 reflections from "Jacobs Dream," John Berry, and Chaz Bond, making this reissue both musically and personally significant. For fans of Iron Maiden, Queensrÿche, Sacred Warrior, Crimson Glory, and Dio, this 20th Anniversary Edition vinyl captures everything that made Drama of the Ages essential in 2005-and makes it shine anew for a generation of listeners and collectors.
